Differences in Perception between Teachers and Students and Their Implications for Chinese Language Teaching

This lecture attempts to present a summary of the survey reports on the usage of ChatGPT conducted by Chinese language teachers and students, and to demonstrate their basic understanding of this new technology in the international Chinese education field. Based on the key differences in perception between teachers and students regarding this new technology, several suggestions are proposed to cope with these changes. The main point of the author is that teachers should actively discuss with students their expectations and differences in perception regarding the integration of new technologies into the curriculum and strive to achieve mutual understanding between teachers and students. Only in this way can the efficiency of language teaching be improved by making full use of the strengths of new technologies, and at the same time achieving satisfactory teaching results.
