Abstract: In the Taiwan Studies community, the acronym TAP has become a familiar reference point for interdisciplinary and intercultural research on Taiwan. The project started in early 2022 with ambitious goals to strengthen the field of sinology and bring forward cross-perspective among major subjects. In recent decades, Taiwan has developed into a dynamic and plural society, characterised by vibrant political and civil-society life and a distinct capacity to navigate global challenges. Relying on different academic backgrounds, such as literature, anthropology/sociology, history or political science/international relations the four postdocs developed their research to broaden the understanding of Taiwan. They developed cross-perspectives on common topics, such as the Anthropocene. Josie-Marie Perkuhn presents TAP as a research project and focuses in particular on the co-authored joint paper with Dr. Fliß and Dr. Keyser-Verreault titled "What about the era of human interference in Taiwan? How diverse is the reception of innovation and ecological consciousness regarding the Anthropocene?"
Dr Josie-Marie Perkuhn 雷 瑪 麗 leads the joint postdoc research project Taiwan as a Pioneer (TAP) at Trier University and is non-resident-fellow at the Institute for Security Policy at Kiel University (ISPK). She graduated in Political Science and Chinese Studies. Her postdoc interest is in Maritime Security and Peace Studies, Digitalization, Climate Change, Energy Supply and Global Health. She is one of the 100-Top-of-the-Table on China-related matters as nominated by China.Table in 2024, and a member of the German-Taiwanese Dialogue Platform, DTDP.
