Taiwanese Workshop - Exploring Another Sinitic Language

The purpose of this workshop is to give students who study mandarin in Europe the opportunity to learn about the characteristics of another language in the Sinitic language family. By understanding the basic linguistic structure of Taiwanese, the workshop will also enable students to benefit in comparison with their Chinese counterparts. From the perspective of language acquisition, it is useful to construct a distance from the language being learned to understand it. In this Taiwanese workshop, we will try to learn Taiwanese through Mandarin. The workshop will focus on the basic linguistic elements of the language, such as intonation, pronunciation, and the provision of simple sentence patterns, as well as music or poetry.
