The talk is based on the Book “Bean Voting” published in 2014, Renmin University Press.
This book explores the history and politics of the secret ballot, from its introduction in ancient Greece, with a focus on a unique Chinese variation, called bean voting, practiced in areas controlled by the Chinese communist party during the Sino-Japanese war and Chinese civil war.
